Description
Black berserker shoulder pelt, fur cloak
In the Norse sagas, berserkers are described as warriors who fell into a kind of frenzy during battle. The origin of the name is a matter of debate. A common interpretation derives it from the ‘bear shirt’, i.e. a garment made of animal hide.
The Berserker fur cloak, made from Nordland sheepskin, is cut larger than a classic shoulder cloak and extends well beyond the back. It is suitable for Viking, warrior or jarl costumes and can be worn at medieval markets, LARP events or in camp. The black fur keeps you warm and can be worn with a tunic, trousers and a belt. A separate fastening, such as a brooch, can be used to fasten it. This is not included in the delivery but can be purchased separately from our shop.
There is no evidence to suggest that Vikings wore furs in this form. However, particularly during the Scandinavian winter, it is quite conceivable that furs were also used as clothing.
