Description
Pendant Thorshammer, hand forged, iron
This pendant was hand-forged from one piece.
The Thor's hammer, also called Mjölnir (the Malmer), is the symbol of the thunder god Thor (in German Donar). At times Thor was considered the supreme Germanic god, especially among the simple free peasants and warriors, while the Scandinavian jarl and kings rather considered Odin (in German Wodan or Wotan) as the supreme deity. According to mythology, the dwarf Brokk forged the Mjölnir. One could throw with it without ever missing the target. Thor successfully fought with the hammer against the giants, who always threatened the gods of the Wanen and Asen.
Today, the Thor's hammer is considered jewelry and talisman, but above all it is an expression of paganism and atheism in a Christian environment.
