Description

Children's tabard Alexander, St. John, natural / black

This tabard for children is made of sturdy cotton fabric , calf-length, straight cut and slit at the sides to the waist. Front and back are also provided with a slightly shorter slit in the middle. On the chest is the classic cross of the Teutonic Knights.

The tunic (also called surcoat or surcot) appeared in the 12th century and was worn over the armor or chain armor to protect from sunlight. Likewise, on the battlefield, the different color schemes allowed one to distinguish friend from foe in the thick of battle.
Tunics were worn by many crusaders to identify themselves as crusaders.

Knights of the Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem or the Knights of the Order of St. John of the Hospital of Jerusalem were called Knights of St. John. This order of knights was founded after the conquest of Jerusalem by the army of the First Crusade in 1099. The knights of this order were also called Hospitallers. Anno 1306, after the fall of the Crusader states, the order first moved to Rhodes, then finally to Malta in 1530. Today, this order is therefore called the Malterserorden.
