Medieval strappy dress / overdress, red, ‘Lene’
This medieval strappy dress is made from sturdy cotton fabric (twill). It is cut close to the body at the top and features a wooden button placket down the centre. Lacing at the back allows for a personalised fit and gives the dress an elegant bodice-like look when laced up. The attached skirt section is given a feminine finish by gathering at the waist, whilst two pockets on either side of the hips ensure comfort.
In terms of period, this sleeveless over-dress is suitable for the High and Late Middle Ages. Depending on your choice of accessories, it can be styled into various costumes – from a maid to a peasant woman to a pirate. When paired with a long-sleeved underskirt, it can also be worn on cooler days.
