The Viking hood is made of 100% wool in brown diamond twill and is based on the historical Skjoldehamn hood in terms of shape and details. With a length of approximately 74 cm, it offers reliable protection for the head, neck, and shoulders and impresses with its wide hood and fine embroidery on the hem.

Brown wool hood

The Viking hood is based on the famous find from Skjoldehamn and combines historically authentic elements with a comfortable fit. Its characteristic cut and carefully crafted details give it a look that blends harmoniously with authentic Viking or early medieval clothing. The wool used ensures a natural, warm feel that is particularly appreciated on cool days.
The hood is made of pure wool in a diamond twill weave. The fine pattern of small, offset diamonds is created by combining light and dark brown yarns, giving the fabric a lively yet understated texture. Subtle embroidery on the hem emphasizes the historical character and adds an additional handcrafted accent. The shape follows the traditional model with a pointed chest section and the typical square insert.
Thanks to its wide hood and generous shoulder sections, the hood offers a very comfortable fit and reliable protection from wind and weather. An adjustable strap at the back of the head allows the hood width to be individually adjusted – worn close-fitting or slightly looser, as required. Although the original hood does not date directly from the Viking Age, it is now a popular addition to Viking, early medieval, and high medieval reenactments.
Whether for reenactment, in camp, or at a medieval market: the cowl offers a harmonious combination of warmth, comfort, and a traditional appearance. It is suitable for both men and women and can be easily incorporated into different outfits.
