Late Middle Ages dog gugel from Churburg Castle, ca. 1395 AD - suitable for show Combat

Hundsgugel were widespread throughout Europe until 1420 AD and enjoyed great popularity among knights and warriors.
They got their name "Hundsgugel" or also "Schweinegugel" because of their prominent snout.
This helmet is a reproduction of an original from the 14th century that is suitable for show combat. The original is now on display in the armoury of Churburg Castle in South Tyrol.

It is made of 1.8 mm (0.07 in) thick steel and has a completely removable face guard. The face guard is held securely in place by means of pins.
The eye slits in the visor are approx. 15 cm (5.9 in) long and 1 cm (0.39 in) wide each. The perforations on the right side of the muzzle ensure sufficient air circulation in the helmet.
The attached vervelles at the lower edge of the helmet allow a chain mail to be attached.
The inside of the helmet has a padded inlay made of cotton fabric, which is adjustable in size.
The chin strap made of 3 mm (0.12 in) thick leather and a brass buckle ensure an optimal fit on the head. The leather strap is also adjustable in size.
