Description

Leather balls have been among the most popular playthings for children and adults alike since the Middle Ages. From the 13th century onwards, ball-making was even recognised as a profession in its own right. Our handcrafted medieval ball draws on this historical tradition and stands out for its natural materials and traditional craftsmanship.

The ball consists of four carefully cut pieces of vegetable-tanned pull-up oil-tanned leather, held together by a sturdy, hand-sewn seam. Pull-up leather has the distinctive property of developing a characteristic patina over time. Signs of wear, such as slight scratches, enhance the authentic ‘used’ look and make each ball a unique, one-of-a-kind piece.

The ball is firmly filled and has no bounce – it is ideal for juggling, as a decorative item or as a historical toy at medieval markets and LARP events. As each piece is made entirely by hand, slight variations in size and appearance may occur. Please note that leather is a natural product – no two balls are exactly alike.
