Cingulum, Roman belt type she-wolf with Romulus and Remus
The Cingulum Militare was a leather belt of the Romans, which was a widely used accessory in ancient times. Typical of this belt were the ornamental metal plates on the belt & the holder for a dagger. In addition to the belt's function of holding pants to the hip, it was also a sign of military honor or rank.
Typical of the Roman belt are the leather strips that hang down from the belt strap. These were decorated with abundant ornamental fittings and end fittings and often equipped with holders or hangers for the soldier's dagger.
This offered Roman belt is made of one strap and 4 hanging strips of high quality, 3mm (0.12 in) thick leather. The leather belt is equipped with abundant decorative plates, which are about 8.5cm x 5cm (3.35 in x 1.97 in). On the decorative plates are alternating human faces and the famous motif of Romulus and Remus suckling she-wolf (Lupa Romana). There are 8 brass medallions on each of the 4 leather strips, ending with a brass pendant.
The buckle with hinge and the movable pugio holders are also made of brass. The strap is pre-cut and can thus be individually adjusted to one's own circumference.
A leather cord is included for attaching a dagger.
