Chainmail collar (bishop's collar) made of flat rings, Ø 8mm (0.31 inches)

These chainmail collars (bishop's collars) were made from rings that were flat throughout. All rings are closed with wedge rivets (triangular rivets).
This weave is typical for the European late Middle Ages. The braiding is 4 in 1.

Its purpose is to protect the neck, shoulders, upper chest and back. It was already popular in the 15th - 16th century.
