Black Viking shoes with a simple toggle fastener

During the early Middle Ages, toggle fasteners were widely used on shoes and boots and became a popular fastening technique of the era. These simple fasteners ensured that the shoes could be worn comfortably, securely and for a long time. The toggle fastener was particularly popular with the Vikings, as it was quick and easy to use. Finds of similar Viking shoes can still be seen in museums today.

Our Viking shoes with toggle fasteners are made from cowhide. They are equipped with a leather insole and have a robust leather outsole that is nailed to the shoe. The toggle fastener on the side allows the shoes to be adjusted to your own foot.
