Description

Bellows-operated bell from c. 1490, made from 2mm-thick steel – suitable for re-enactment battles!

This ‘Blasebalg-Schaller’ is a reconstruction of a late medieval schaller, which was probably made around 1490 by armourers in northern Italy. Due to its unusual visor, this helmet is known as a ‘bellows-style’ helmet.

The shell was made from 2mm-thick steel, whilst the movable visor was crafted from 1.6mm-thick steel.
A size-adjustable, padded fabric inlay and a leather chin strap have been riveted in place for securing the helmet to the head.
